Enough talk about the hype and enough chatter about digital transformation. Artificial intelligence will forever be a major element of any business strategy moving forward and there may never be another day in which we don’t speak about its business, consumer, and personal impacts.
The problem with deep discussion of the age of AI is this: there is no “perfect” outlook for how artificial intelligence will unfold in the months and years to come. There is no neat, linear straight line ahead, nor is there conformity to simple maturity curves that have been leveraged for years for every other major enterprise technology.
The trajectory of AI will be uneven and deeply dependent on just how businesses and their leaders “reimagine” their operations with layers and layers of artificial intelligence. How will processes change? What does governance truly look like? How does work itself begin to, or continue to, change?
There is no accurate state of prediction here. The real challenge is accepting that AI’s evolution (and consequent impact) won’t be something we predict so much as something we shape through deliberate design, experimentation, and, most critically, leadership.
